State of affairs

Hi there,

I'm an FX TD, mainly using Houdini and I'm interested in Mosketch and streaming into Houdini. How actively are you developing it these days? I'd love to put some time into learning the software and hopefully integrating it in my workflow.

Cheers

Hi,

thanks for the request.

We are currently maintaining Mosketch but we are not adding new features for the time being. We hopefully will in the near future. May I ask what feature you are mostly interested in Mosketch?

Best.

Thanks for getting back to me! I'm interested in using Mosketch to animate in Houdini, streaming the animation through python, as you're already doing in Maya.
Mosketch seems like a very intuitive way of animating without the need of super complex rigs/controllers.

Cheers

If you have a look at the Python script we did on Github, you should be able to adapt it to your needs in Houdini. If you need any support for that, please contact us our support directly. and we will be glad to give you all the help we can.

All the best.

I will give it a go, thanks!
What is the link for Mosketch on GitHub? I’ve tried to find it in the past, but to no avail! I’m an Animation Generalist, with a passion for the TD pipeline, I’d like to see if I could get it to run with Maya 2023.1 on MacOS Monterey. Thanks!

Hi,

we do not plan to release the source code for Mosketch. We Do plan to release it for free though. I hope this clarifies things a bit.

Best regards.

No this doesn’t really clarify anything Benoit. When will it be released for free?!?! It’s been years and nothing from Moka Studios!

Hello Mike Stumbo,

I'm afraid that you'll never receive a positive answer to your request.

A few years ago I purchased a 2-years license for Mosketch Light and even with the assistance of a member of their Support I wasn't able to activate that application on my computer (Windows 10).

In my opinion it clearly appears that Mosketch was the alpha version of a project that was silently discontinued.

Personally I found a much better tool with a currently free 'one-year ex-educational license' of Akeytsu.

It is sad to read on the website of its software house Nukeygara that the company doesn't exist anymore.

I wouldn't be surprised to discover that it is also the case for Mokastudio.
